The Book

Laying God’s Table is essentially a book about Christian hospitality. Jesus spent some of his most precious times on earth making history at a table. My goal in writing this book is to encourage and build up the body of Christ to actively practice hospitality.

I have divided the book into three parts for your convenience.

The heart of the book:

In order to obtain the essence or the heart of the book, I ventured into a wonderful journey through the bible and into the very heart of God. Starting with Matthew 20:28 its says, For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many. And what I discovered was a biblical perspective on God’s view of Hospitality writing about topics from “The Garden of Eden” to “The Wedding feast in Cana” There is a heartfelt section on the Hurt, Heartbroken and Lonely and what Jesus says about such topics. I have included my testimony and challenge you to look at the condition of your own heart, and the heart of God and his unfailing love.

Hosting your own event:

I have assembled detailed instructions on how to host your own successful event. There is a step-by-step planning list and demonstrations on how to style your own table. Researching from my own experience I have streamlined processes to help with planning and preparation, which will enable your event to be intimate and special.

Event menus and recipes

There are 70+ of some of my most delicious and favourite recipes. I have included comprehensive instructions on how to assemble cakes, and I know you’re going to enjoy baking them. My aim has always been to make food that is delicious and memorable. Over the years I have had many compliments that my baking is “the best they have ever had”, so now I am sharing so that you too can attain encouraging comments like that. I have created some event-based menus and ideas to really get your hospitality juices flowing. Seven menus are included to inspire and exhilarate your heart to action.

The talented and accommodating Craig at craig@cvdesign.net.nz has designed the book in which he has completely bought it to life. He has installed intricate emblems, stunning fonts and bright colours.

Meanwhile my editor Jane Hingston lent her professional hand and recipe-editing skills to the book. Recipes became vibrant and understandable to read and make.
